ART WITH ASHES

Hi, a little bit about me. I am an artist, working with oils, acrylics, pastels, water colors and charcoal. My speciality is doing memorial paintings in which I mix cremated remains (ashes) with oil paints to memorialize a departed loved one.

For this purpose I do not do portraits as I have found that a likeness of the departed brings sadness and accentuates the loss. In my experience a favorite landscape scene (ie: the mountains; a favorite fishing hole; the lake; forest, etc)brings happiness and peace of mind to the bereaved.

I started doing this work in 2000 after my lifemate died. I have 4 paintings in my home which I painted using his ashes and one painting where I combined his ashes with the ashes of our cat who died several years later.

I and my work have been featured on the Spanish language TV channel UNIVISION. They actually came to my studio and filmed for 4 hours. Then they edited the footage to a 3 minute segment on the program VER PARA CREER (that's the Spanish version of Ripley's). Reruns have also been shown on the program PRIMO IMPACTO.

OK, aside from my artwork, I am origially from Chicago, Illinois. I received my degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt University where other courses of study included Accounting and Psychology. I moved to Arizona in 1986 and in 2006 to Oregon, where I now reside.

If anyone has questions or comments, I will be happy to answer or address them.......simply send me an email. I will answer all.  Thank you for your interest
